Mike Lastavica

Mike Lastavica, age 63, of Forest Lake, Formerly of Grand Rapids, died peacefully Friday July 13, 2012. Mike was born June 22, 1949 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, the son of Emil and Claire(Cole) Lastivica. Mike graduated from Grand Rapids high school in 1968. He worked for many years at Cole's Forest Products. A few years later Mike ran his own wood chipping business in St. Paul. Mike loved muscle cars and Nascar. He raced his '70 Chevelle SS 454 at Minnesota Dragway and Built racecars with his cousin to race at Grand Rapids Speedway. One of Mike's Favorite things to do was sit around the kitchen table with family and friends and reminisce about the old days. He also enjoyed fishing, the beautiful North Country, playing cards, and snowmobiling. Mike is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents Clair and Clara Cole and Stojen and Andja Lastavich. He is survived by his sisters, RuthAnn (John) Dahlin of Ramsey and RoseMary (Myron) Moe of St. Francis; nieces, Amy (Brandon) of Alexandria, Kristina (Paul) Of Elk River, Andrea of St. Francis, and nephew, Michael of St Francis; family and his many classmates from the class of '68. Memorial Service 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Birchwood Health Care Center, 604 NE 1st Street, Forest Lake. Family will greet friends from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. Interment at Harris Township Cemetery, MN.
