Michael Julien, age 68, of Chisago City, Minnesota, formerly of Pine River, Minnesota, died Monday, March 13, 2017. Mike was born April 15, 1948 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, the son of Albert and Elizabeth (Skelly) Julien. Mike attended St. Joseph Catholic School and graduated from Grand Rapids High School where he played hockey. He attended Itasca Community College and graduated from St. Cloud State with a degree in teaching. Mike taught elementary level in Pine River, Minnesota. In 1969 he met his future wife Susie in St. Cloud. They married on September 4, 1971 at St. Charles Church in Cass Lake, Minnesota. Their family was complete with the birth of their son, Patrick in 1973. In Pine River he enjoyed hunting, fishing with the family and living on the river. Together, he and Susie resided in Pine River for 38 years before moving to Chisago City. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Matthew. He is survived by his wife, Susie; son, Patrick; siblings, Lynn (Dan) Brennan, Jane Cavegn, Nancy (Carl) Nord, Betty Ann Julien, Mary (Chuck) O'Keefe, Paul (Maxine) Julien; aunt, Peggy and uncles, Mike, Punk and Larry; as well as many nieces and nephews. A special blessing to his nurse cat Jana who stayed with him during his illness. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the Church of Saint Peter, 1250 South Shore Drive, Forest Lake, Minnesota. The family will greet friends immediately following mass for food, fellowship and sharing memories at the church. Private interment at St. Charles Cemetery, Bayport, Minnesota.
