Lawrence Nelson

Lawrence, "Larry" Nelson was born January 1st, 1925 to Nels and Rachel Nelson in Bruno, MN.

He worked the logging camps and railroad in Northern Minnesota starting at the age of 14. He then did road construction from Hickley to Renville, MN. After various jobs he went into over the road trucking. He worked for Indianhead for 25 years until they closed their doors and then drove truck for a variety of trucking companies until he was 71. He was a lifetime member of Teamsters 120. He did not take to retirement very easily since he enjoyed working.

Larry was a very loving, caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He loved his family very much and always looked forward to family visits, birthdays, graduations, weddings, holiday parties or just chatting on the phone. He lived for his family. He enjoyed the simple life whether it was trapping moles in the yard, raking the weeds out of the lake, washing the windows, cutting down trees, mowing the grass on his John Deere or put zing on his "1966" truck. Most of all he enjoyed sitting on the porch with Mary, the love of his life, every day of the summer, swinging on the swing shooting the breeze, this was his paradise. Larry passed away on Monday, March 26th on a beautiful sunny day doing what he loved best... working out in the yard, he came in sat down in his favorite chair on the porch and passed away in peace.

We love you and will miss you very much. Your "HELLO," your smile, sweetness, laughter, your compassion and the wonderful stories you had to tell about your ancestors and when you were driving on the road. We have all been blessed!
