Jackie Barrett

November 10, 1938 — April 27, 2014

Jackie Kyer Barrett was born on November 10, 1938, the oldest child of Alvey and Thelma Tessa (Tharrett) Kyer. She was born in Gouverneur and raised in the town of Fine, New York. She came to Minnesota at the age of 18, where she met her husband Michael in 1959. They married in 1960 and had three children, Diane, Dawn and Michael Jr. Jackie and Mike moved the family to Forest Lake in 1974. Together they raised horses for 30 years. She was a member of the Forest Lake VFW and frequently helped out elderly neighbors and friends. She loved to dance and it was beautiful watching her and Mike tear up the dance floor together. She spent her life taking care of her family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her tremendous joy. Jackie and Mike also enjoyed a lot of time camping, traveling throughout North America, and going on cruises. One of Jackie's favorite destinations was Alaska. Jackie passed away at home on April 27, 2014, after a yearlong battle with cancer. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Donna; and brother, Kenny. She will forever be missed by her husband, Mike; daughters, Diane (Brian) Jeppesen, Dawn (John) Bigelbach; son, Michael (Michele); sister, Judy; grandchildren, Danielle, Jynelle, Orlean, Brenda, Tiffany, Bridget, Jeremy; and beloved great-grandchildren, Lex, Evie, Sophia, Payton, Landon, and Halle. A memorial celebration of life will be held 4-8 p.m., Friday, May 2, 2014, at VFW Post 4210, 556 SW 12th Street, Forest Lake.
