Delores Lindsey

September 13, 1913 — December 20, 2005

Lindsey, Delores

"DeeDee"

Forest Lake

Beloved mother, grandma and great-grandma died peacefully on December 20 at the age of 92. Preceded in death by her parents, Lydia and Elmer Oftedahl, her husband Gale F. Lindsey; brothers Kenneth, Jewell, Lyle and Walter; son in law Tom Kalmanir.

Survived by loving daughters Patricia Gamble and her husband Bill and Donna Gail Lindsey; five grandchildren, Pamela (Rich) Witalka, Nancy (Jason) Schrank, Doug (Marissa) Pernell, Rebecca Pernell, Scott Gamble; four great grandchildren, Kimberly Witalka, David Witalka, Sarah Witalka and Eva Lindsey Schrank and many nieces and nephews.

Delores grew up in Bemidji, MN and moved to Washington DC after being offered a stenographer position with the U.S. Department of State. While in Washington she met Gale Lindsey and they married in 1938. Gale's work as an FBI agent for thirty years gave them the opportunity to live in many interesting cities; Savannah, GA, Miami, FL, Jacksonville, FL, New York and New Haven, CT and lastly in St. Paul where they lived for twenty two years. They moved to Forest Lake in 1967.

Delores retired after twenty years with the St. Paul school system, having served as a school secretary at several elementary schools including Edgecumb, Mattocks and Horace Mann.

Friends and family will remember Delores for her loving and generous spirit. She volunteered at the local Hospital Auxiliary for over twenty years. For many years she treated every piece of mail from a charity as an invoice! She loved to play cards, especially Bridge, and was awesome at Hearts. What can you say about a woman whose sons in law loved and appreciated her so much? She was wonderful.

Her family suffers an immeasurable loss with her passing. We were so lucky to share our lives with her.
